The quarterly public meeting of the Carrick Community Council will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 7pm in the auditorium of Pittsburgh Concord K-5, 2350 Brownsville Road.  The theme of the meeting will be to educate the community about city services.  Guest speakers for the evening will be from the Pittsburgh Housing Authority, Bureau of Building Inspection, 311 Call Center, Environmental Services, District Magistrate Richard King and City Council representatives.  Residents are urged to attend to hear how tax dollars are used every day.
The Carrick Community Council has invited these representatives from key departments and agencies to speak about their specific duties, responsibilities and how the public can make better use of their resources.  City departments and agencies work hard every day to ensure the health, safety and welfare of our residents.  Residents will learn how the department and agency works and what the processes are for when complaints are received, documented and what actions may be taken.  Complaints or comments regarding specific issues may be addressed to the representative privately after the meeting.
In addition, Pittsburgh Carrick High School students will be recognized for giving countless hours of their time to local food pantries from their elementary school years through high school.  Ms. Linda Warble will present the awards.
