Profile Hilary Marcella

Hilary joined the board of the Carrick Community Council in Fall 2018. She and her partner (fellow board member Jamall Green) moved to Carrick in 2014 from Pittsburgh's East End. Hilary appreciates Carrick's affordable housing, public transit access, and walkability. She is most thankful to her Bhutanese-Nepali neighbors for introducing her to momos!

Hilary's passion for social justice steers her professional, academic, and volunteer endeavors. She currently works for Allegheny County's Department of Human Services where she manages competitively-awarded grants that enable innovative human services solutions. In her prior work, Hilary raised resources for nonprofits that work to protect the environment, empower women, and combat racism. She has an urban studies degree concentrated in community organizing from the University of Pittsburgh, and she is currently pursuing her Masters of Public Management from CMU's Heinz College.

Hilary aims to build an inclusive community where all of her neighbors feel welcome and can thrive. When she's not working or studying, Hilary cuddles her kittens, binge-watches Netflix, and gardens.
